Conisbrough and Denaby has a rich history in famous companies that employed large numbers of people from the area.


Kilners Glassworks - famous for producing Kilner jars that were airtight containers for food preservation. They also made bottles of every shape, size and colour used for anything from sauces to poisons.


Denaby and Cadeby Main Collieries - the first shaft was started to be dug in Denaby Main in 1863.


The Sickle Works - Originally used as a cannon boring mill, but laterly made sickles which were exported all over the world.


Booths Woodworking Yard - at the back of the Sickle Works.
